James Jozwiak, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in treating individuals ages 17 and up who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and other various life challenges. I have experience working in a wide variety of settings (i.e. in-home, residential, outpatient, and community outreach) which has given me the pleasure of working with and getting to know clients of all different cultures and backgrounds.
I am a firm believer that healing begins by first developing a safe and open relationship that encourages clients to trust and be open about their experiences. I also believe in utilizing a holistic, person-centered approach by helping clients to learn about the many "parts" that make up their system as well as helping them to get to know these parts (often for the first time) so that they may learn to embrace them and feel more accepting toward themselves as they begin the process of healing recent or old wounds.I utilize a wide variety of therapeutic modalities in my practice (i.e. CBT, ACT, TF-CBT, Narrative Therapy, Brainspotting, Motivational Interviewing, IFS, etc.), and I personalize treatment to each and every individual based upon their strengths, cultural factors, and presenting issues.
My professional education includes a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Psychology from UW Oshkosh and a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from UW Milwaukee. Through my education, I realized the importance of not only addressing the presenting issues but also understanding the roles of cultural, environmental, and systemic factors that have critical impacts on the lives of my clients.
Outside of my professional life, I find solace in nature and in working with my hands. I enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and all outdoor activities. I am a biologist at heart and have a particular love for planting and raising trees. I also enjoy spending my free time woodworking and embracing my creative side to create whatever I can.
